The Golden Years

I had the pleasure of being chosen to make cupcakes for a very special couple celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary this Saturday. Their children did an amazing job transforming Robert Livermore Center's Cresta Blanca Ballroom into an golden paradise! The room was decorated in gold and black with beautiful high ceilings and black & white feather centerpieces, personalized waters and excellent food. The couple is from Puerto Rico so island- like foods and drinks were served.
They choose a Pina Colada mini cupcake: coconut, pineapple & coconut rum cake with a coconut rum cream cheese frosting. As well as, Island Brownie mini cupcake: coconut chocolate cake with a chocolate ganache and a Bavarian chocolate coconut frosting.
They played Latin music that got everyone on the dance floor & their granddaughter made a slide show of their fifty years together that was priceless. any generations in one room sharing the love and support of this couple was a beautiful sight!
Thank you for letting us witness and be a part of such an amazing landmark accomplishment in your lives.
Here's to fifty more years!

A special guppies turned 3!

The Birthday Guppie!
I started this company with my family in mind. As you know, my flavors are designed after a family member-- not by chance, and this party was such a pleasure to do! It was my son Kohen's 3rd birthday and I tried to pick flavors I know he would love.
We decided on a chocolate & vanilla cake combo... first there was a Snickerdoodle cupcake {pictured to the left}: a cinnamon and sugar cake with cinnamon cream cheese frosting.
Second, a Raspberry Red Velvet cupcake {pictured to the right}: raspberry red velvet cake with white chocolate raspberry cream cheese frosting. I also made a few spice cake since my dad {I gasp at this...} hates frosting! But I know you frosting haters are out there so I am happy to accomidate! ;)

Fruity Pebbles

Fruit is our friend! I received an order for a "repeat" Frostings lover. :) He first tried our Nuetella Chocolate cupcakes at a cousin's birthday party. This time it was HIS birthday & grandma ordered some tasty treats to celebrate!  Pictured is the Kahlua Banana; a custom flavor and adult treat. ;)  It is Kahlua chocolate cake with a banana pudding center & a light Kahlua buttercream frosting. The second is the Strawberry Blondie {a regular on the menu}. This cupcake is made similar to a blondie brownie {aka brownie without the chocolate}. It's a brown sugar cake with fresh strawberry cream cheese frosting. I opted for less pink than usual since he a BOY! I am also making his birthday party cupcakes at his upcoming party. Keep a look out for his event photos!

Birthday Bash Weekend

It's the summer and what better way to ring in the summer season than with a birthday bash weekend. We were busy with two birthday events on opposite sides of the age spectrum! Early saturday was a pool party theme for a 6 year old adorable girl! Lemon cupcakes topped with a Rainier cherry & Strawberry Overload cupcakes topped with a {classy} High School Musical stamp ring as the party favor! It was perfect weekend for a splash in the pool and we hope that little miss enjoyed her extra special day!

Later in the evening the next event was an 'Vintage' 30th birthday party for a dear friend of mine's husband. His wife put together an amazing spread of food; I sooo wanted to eat it all! She had thought of every detail, right down to the chocolate fountain and sarcastic napkins! She supplied her own {pretty nifty} spinning cupcake stand; I must get one, to hold the Strawberry with strawberry buttercream & Lemon Cupcakes!

Farmer's Market Inspiration!

I have been so busy baking this week & enjoying the busy bee I've been lately! I have been inspired by the farmers market and got some great white nectarines {which are mine & Kohen's favorite}. I decided, why not make a cupcake out of it?? I never see any white nectarine cupcakes, but if I had-- they'd have been the first one I bought! This is a vanilla bean cake with white nectarine buttercream frosting. Yummy!

Pina Colada
My next flavor was the Pina Colada! Inspired by Blake Shelton's post yesterday,"Do you like pina coladas?" It is a pineapple cake with Malibu rum, crushed pineapple & shredded coconut topped with a rum pineapple buttercream frosting. The smell was infectious. If you don't like pineapple don't visit me today!

Grand Marnier
Grand Marnier has been a flavor on my menu since the very beginning. It's such a great staple! :) If you consider one of your "food groups". This cupcake is truly a labor of love! This cupcake starts off with a mocha cake with dark chocolate {& a hint of Grand Marnier} ganache piped inside topped with an orange Grand Marnier buttercream frosting. It's subtle orange, combination of chocolate & coffee make it a perfect afternoon treat.

I was watching a recent episode of The Cupcake Girls, while I must give them credit for expanding a business they knew nothing about, had no plan in place & were partners with their best friends-- while the odds were stacked against them they have made it for a long time; but I don't like the way they make their cupcakes. It's all a basic recipe & they just tweak it for each flavor. While that may be cost effective & time efficient since it doesn't vary much in time to prep I like the idea that each cupcake is unique in flavor. But-- they also have a store & a tv show, that of which I do not! :)

Tis' the season

It's the summer and I don't know of anything more popular than the beach and weddings this time of year! I love all these beautiful summer wedding we get to do. These brides are super creative & are jumping head first into design details. You go girls!! I updated my website to include some new wedding trends but it's also the season for babies-- boy is it ever! If it's not a birthday party it's a baby shower. I am so excited to be doing a baby announcement party this weekend. The client wants a neutral cupcake with a "colored" center to reveal what the sex of the baby is {we'll leave that unknown since we don't want to tip of any of her party go-ers}. What a cute way to incorporate your nearest & dearest in the announcement of the gender of this precious lil' life! I'm feeling the creative juices flowing & I love it! It's nice to have some custom projects that allow my creativity to run wild. I'll update with photos of the finished product {as always}.
